Rebound in fine leather. The bindings are not original. Collated. All 99 plates present. All text present. All titles and half title pages present except for volume 6. Volume 6 only has a half-title page, it is missing the full title page and part of the table of contents [pages 3-6]. The bindings are not original. Edinburgh: Charles Elliot, 1783-1787. First Editions. Hardcover. Octavo, six volumes. In Very Good minus condition. Rebound in quarter brown leather, with marbled paper boards. The spines look darker in person, without the camera flash. Paneled spines with black Morocco and green leather labels with gilt titling. Boards have light shelving wear. Textblocks have pencil writing to the front free end pages, light age toning, minor foxing and stains to some pages throughout, and wear to edges. Volumes 1-3 have two ownership signatures to the title pages, and volume 6 has one ownership signature to page [9], identical to the first three volumes. Volume 4 height is shorter, as visible in the pictures. The text block margins were likely trimmed. Volume 4 has a library stamp to the recto of the table of contents from the Wellcome Library, with no other markings, and ink stains to bottom edges. Volume 6 only has a half-title page, it is missing the full title page and part of the table of contents [pages 3-6].
