Koen Vanmechelen is an internationally recognized Belgian conceptual artist whose multidisciplinary practice spans paintings, sculptures, videos, bio-installations, public events, and social projects. This book, featuring extensive articles and rich illustrations, offers an in-depth exploration of the Belgian artist's unique vision and work. It also highlights his renowned Cosmopolitan Chicken Project, a global crossbreeding initiative involving chickens from diverse backgrounds. Vanmechelen's art exists at the intersection of art, nature, and science, with key themes of diversity, breeding, and crossbreeding. A deeply ethical artist, he is deeply concerned with the state of the planet and the sustainable future of all species. Through his work, he seeks to open both symbolic and practical perspectives on a future where humans and other species coexist in harmony.
