Hardback. First Edition. Kinsmen and Clansmen. Slight foxing to edge. What was the official reason given for the name MacGregor being proscribed in 1603? How did the Government try to persuade the Elliots and other border clans to live at peace? When did the Murrays, both Highland and Lowland, take the law into their own hands and agree to settle internal disputes among themselves? Why did a confederacy of lesser clans and families band themselves together round the Mackintosh chiefs.? In the story of 93 Scottish clans and families, this book shows how often people of the same name and blood have acted in concert, and the varied ways in which an awareness of this common bond has been demonstrated. Some of the general outline will be familiar to those who bear each name, but many of the instances chosen to illustrate the theme are little known today. This publication has something to tell both the native and the visitor about the strong feeling of kin and clan in the makeup of the modern Scot. Illustrated with tartans. Illustrated laminated board. 192 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions, Reference books ,and all types of Academic Literature.).…
