Rebound in late nineteenth century three-quarter green leather and marbled boards, spine titled and ruled in gilt with five raised bands, gilt top edges. Marbled endpapers. Original stiff red paper covers and advertisements preserved. 2 blanks, front and back. Numerous illustrations: full-page plates and illustrations within text. Pseudonym for Henry Chartres Biron. A Parody of H. Rider Haggard's King Solomon's Mines (1885). "Andrew Lang" in gilt below the title on the leather spine, at the time he was believed to be the author. This edition issued in paperbound format only. Book Condition: About Fine: Firm square copy, some rubbing to the leather extremities, some darkening of the marbled paper, bright top edge gilt.
