Original red cloth with gilt circular elephant vignette on front cover and gilt lettering on spine; t.e.g. Black and white frontispiece and nine b/w illustrations by Lockwood Kipling. A very good copy of what is viewed as Kipling's masterpiece & in some circles as the first modern espionage novel. No dust jacket. Very good (light soiling). 413 pages + 2 pages ads. No signatures or bookplates. Enclosed in a 1/2 brown morocco slipcase. Printed by R. & R. Clark, Limited, Edinburgh. Filmed in 1950 by Victor Saville, starring Errol Flynn and Dean Stockwell.
