Chips to margins of paper wrappers, without loss of text. Paper spine heavily chipped. Internally very good. The folding frontispiece map of the Kermadec Islands has moderate foxing and a 2" tear. The rear paper wrapper is pasted down onto the blank final page (verso of page 29). Staples rusted. No signatures.; Uncommon. [ii], 29 pages + folding colour frontispiece + 1 other colour plate + 13 b&w plates + large folding map. Page dimensions: 235 x 150mm. The Kermadec Islands are a sub-tropical group of islands lying 800 to 1000km north of the North Island of New Zealand. The main island, Raoul Island, has some volcanic activity, and an interesting flora. The islands were settled by Polynesian peoples in about the 14th century. Today there are no permanent inhabitants, but temporary residents include Department of Conservation workers and scientists.
