An attractive first edition, first printing set of le Carré's celebrated Karla Trilogy - comprising Tinker Tailor Solider Spy (1974), The Honourable Schoolboy (1977) and Smiley's People (1980). The three volumes are all Fine or very nearly Fine, being crisp and clean, and free from names, inscriptions and bookplates. The dustwrappers are all crisp and vibrant and Near Fine. TTSS is Near Fine+: firm and square binding in sharp black boards; bright and unfaded publisher's purple topstain; a little toning to the other edges of the page block. The unclipped dustwrapper (£2.95 net stated) is Near Fine: lightly rubbed to the extremities; modest fading to the spine. The Honourable Schoolboy (publisher's variant with blue cloth and map endpapers) is Near Fine+: tight and square binding in sharp blue cloth; pushed to the spine tips and a light bump to the bottom lower corner; crisp pages, presenting as unread. The clipped dustwrapper is Near Fine: a lustrous and unfaded black; rubbed to the spine tips and corners; 3mm closed tear to the foot of ther front panel. tiny chip to the head of the lower spine fold. Smiley's People is Fine: tight and square binding in sharp blue boards; a faint trace of minor spotting to the top-edge of the page block; crisp pages, presenting as unread. The clipped dustwrapper is Near Fine: bright with just a touch of sunning to the orange colouring at the spine; a little rubbing to the spine tips and corners; 10mm closed tear to the foot of the rear panel, sealed to the verso with professional mending tissue. The dustwrappers are presented in removable, archival-quality protective covers. All orders are sent very carefully wrapped in bubble wrap and sturdy cardboard.
