University Press of Kansas, Lawrence, KS. 1984. Softcover/Trade Wraps. 4th Printing by Line Number. Book is tight, square, and unmarked. Book Condition: As New. No DJ. Pictorial card stock wraps. Wraps are not bent or folded; spine is not creased or split; text is secure in binding. 208 pp 4to. This book is intended for those who have little or no background in earth sciences but want to learn more about the geology of Kansas. The rocks and soils of Kansas contain all sorts of stories- of seas inhabited by ferocious sharks, of swamps that stretched for miles, and dust storms that make the 1930s Dust Bowl look clean by comparison. Ancient oceans, saline seas larger than the Great Salt Lake, earthquakes, and even volcanoes are recorded in Kansas rocks if you know how to read them. This book will get the reader started on how Kansas has developed since prehistory. A clean very presentable copy.
