Volumes 2-3 are biographical volumes, with descriptions of the people who were influential in the development of the city, many of whom are shown in portrait, indexed at the end. Volumes are illustrated throughout in black and white. Maps, portraits, photographic reproductions; many of them showing Kansas City landmarks and streets.
