About this Item
John Dee was Renaissance England's first great Hermetic magus, a philosopher magician but also a respected scientist. Dr French's book shows Dee was a truly universal man who investigated all areas of knowledge. French indicates Dee's profound influence on later generations. Hugh Trevor-Roper noted that Dr French "has written a remarkable book". An excellent copy. Pages are remarkably clean, bright and unmarked, a very minor crease in the title page. Cloth boards are tight and clean. DJ is price clipped but otherwise very good, with only minimal shelf wear and the slightest rubbing . A curiosity: although clearly the 1972 1st edition, the rear DJ flap explains that French died in 1976. All now protected in professional clear book wrapper. 243pp with extensive bibliography, index, B&W illustrations. Seller Inventory # 2234
