Charles E. Tuttle "first Japan printing" (as stated upon title page) as well as "Soft-Cover Edition" (as stated upon title page). [6], 498 pages. Paperback: H 18.25cm x L 13cm. Dark tan paper dust jacket affixed over white paper covers; dj front panel design by M. Kuwata with three-color illustration Ichikawa Danjuro I reproduced from a woodblock print by Torii Kiyomasa; touch of soiling to panels; toning along spine with some overlap into adjacent panel margins as well. Toning to white paper covers with impression of dj front panel illustration carrying through to front cover. Toning and some foxing to text block edges; deckle fore-edge. Past owner's name and date on front free endpaper. Light bumping/creasing at top fore-edge corners of interior leaves which otherwise remain clean. Binding is firm. A nice edition of a Lafcadio Hearn classic.
