Some of this may be due to settlement, but is more than likely due to the fact that the stone was quarried from older buildings and the builders had to use what was available.' (Author). Illustrated with some 100 compelling b/w photographs of Italian doorways accompanied by detailed measured drawings on opposite pages. DJ with some wear along edges, small chips and closed tears. Binding with very light wear along edges. Endpapers slightly sunned along edges. Block with light yellowing along edges not affecting images.
