Add to basketDuodecimo, 397 pp, with publisher's catalog in back and folding map of the island facing title page. Translated from the Spanish by J.S. Thrasher. This book is that portion of Humboldt's "Personal Narrative" that relates to Cuba, collected in a separate volume. A lengthy chapter deals with Slavery on the island, but as is customary with Humboldt, all aspects are viewed. The translator, an American resident in Cuba, has annotated the text and written an extensive "introductory Essay" to bring matters up to date. Scattered foxing throughout, as is common with this book. Otherwise a fine, crisp copy in an original publisher's binding in excellent condition, the endpapers equally.
