Item description from seller

New York: Charles Scribner's Sons, 1882. David Bennett King was an academic who travelled through Ireland in a jaunting car in 1881 and 1882; he described well the poverty and distress of the West, finding all to be polite - despite the violence of the time. An excellent first-person account, worth a read today. This is a Very Good (Plus) copy of the First Edition. Not cvommon. Green cloth binding, titled in gilt on the spine. The front cover titling is in black, with a nice stamping of shamrocks across the top. Clean text; xv, 471 pages, with four pages of publisher's adverts in the rear. Very lightly worn at tips and head and foot of the spine. A solid copy. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good (Plus)/No Jacket. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.
