The first pseudonymous detective novel by the prize-winning Irish author which was first published as a PBO by Dell in the USA earlier in 1956. Superb cover artwork by Lowen. Scarce in first edition in outstanding collectable condition. The basis for 1958 British Film Noir directed (in his directorial debut) by the legendary British Cinematographer Jack Cardiff and starring Richard Todd, Betsy Drake and Herbert Lom.
