Item description from seller

Number 39 of 110 copies handset in 24-pt. Monotype Bembo, decorated with typographic flourishes and ornaments, and printed on Arnold handmade paper. Illustrated with 3 wood engravings by J.R. Biggs. Italian pattern-paper-covered boards, lime-green, white and grey, white buckram back with gilt spine titling. Damage to corners, browning to endpapers, both common with this book. A good copy. There are two, significantly different, issues of this Preface, this is the first. One of the most successful of High House Press books and now justly prized. This was James Masters' first use of the Bembo type, upon which Beatrice Warde was so keen, and which in later books he much favoured.
