Stated: First published in 2001 by Viking Penguin; in addition, a complete number line including the number one. Hard cover in very good condition with black boards and silver gilt spine lettering; black end papers. Spine is soft; seems to have occurred due to weight of the text block which contains 764 pages. Side text edges deckled; all text block edges dust dulled with light spotting and mild smudges. Contains a section of 8 leaves / 16 pages of glossy black & white photographs. Dust jacket in very good condition with light shelf & edge wear; 3/4" closed tear at top of spine; not price clipped. * Edited by Amanda Smith, a granddaughter of Joseph P. Kennedy. From the jacket flap, "Joseph P. Kennedy remains one of the most enigmatic and controversial figures in American history. From his humble beginnings as the grandson of Irish immigrants through his meteoric rise to statesman, diplomat, and finally to first father, he has been both beloved and vilified. . . . .Amanda Smith has unearthed an extraordinary treasure if her grandfather's correspondence and several unseen photographs in a collection that reveals his metamorphoses. It is not only a living history of Kennedy's life, but also a revelation of his vision of his own family as the embodiment of the American dream.".…
