Black cloth on boards with bright silver gilt lettering on spine. Book is tight, square and sharp-cornered, free of markings or flaws inside and out too. Nice illustrated map endpapers of the funeral procession of Greeley. Frontispiece of Greeley, along with mulitple other illustrations throughout, along with period documents. Pictorial clipped Dust Jacket has bright colors (red and black) on front along with sketch of Greeley by Constance Jones Naar. Small tear at top of spine, otherwise only minimal scuffing and shelfwear. Spine slightly faded. From the publisher, on the jacket: "One of the first great American newspaper men, Horace Greeley, who was so influential a voice in his period that he was once appropriately characterized as 'the drumbeat of the nation.' His advice, 'Go west, young man,' has resounded through the decades as part of our folklore.
