Add to basketForeword by John Collier. Small 4to. Pale blue cloth with gilt spine lettering. 151pp. Frontispiece, illustrations, line drawings, maps. Near fine. Second printing, tight and lovely, of this study first published in 1944. First printed by the Haskell Institute in Lawrence, Kansas, by the United States Indian Service, as Number 1 in the "Indian Education Research Series." Interesting is that front flyleaf and half-title page each bear ownership inkstamp of noted American anthropologist, Indian studies authority and University of Chicagoprofessor Milton B. Singer (1912-94) -- in pencil, he signs last name to half-title page, underlines and makes a few margin comments here and there throughout the text, and one blank rear inner flyleaf is filled with his comments about the text; laid in is a 5" X 7 3/4" sheet with his list of "Hopi Villages.".
