Later printing. Illustrated by James Montgomery Flagg whose World War I ÒI Want YouÓ Uncle Sam recruitment poster is internationally famous. Very good plus copy with some minor rubbing to the cloth at the spine and a trace of edge wear in a very good lightly dust soiled dust jacket with a few small chips and tears. A story of love and adventure in the Old West of the 1870s before the Custer massacre. The black & white illustration by James Montgomery Flagg on the front panel of the dust jacket shows a man in Western dress and a woman in Native American dress embracing with a powerful black stallion in the background. Actor, director William S. Hart, is also known for his popular Western films of the 20s, with his final work, Tumbleweeds, being his greatest commercial and critical success. The dust jacket has been yellowed with age, has medium rips and chips along the edges and corners but the front of the dust jacket still shows the title and image clearly. The boards have very slight shelf wear with bumped corners but not much scuffing. The pages have a couple spots, yellowed with age and there is a name and city inscribed above the author's autograph, but otherwise are clean, free of rips and creases, and the binding is tight.
