Home to Harlem - Claude McKay, Harper & Brothers, Stated First Edition with January 1928 (A-C) date code A major work of the Harlem Renaissance - McKay's debut novel, a tragicomedy depicting the joys, sorrows, and tribulations of Harlem's lower class and the charged intensity of Harlem nightlife. Scarce in the first edition. Black quarter cloth, tan checker pattern paper boards, red topstain, pp. [x], 340, [2]; Very Good condition lacking the rare jacket, some light rubbing to boards, a small amount of chipping to the patterned paper near fore-edge corners, small stain to fore-edge, front hinge weakening, minor soil and a few small stains to text.
