Add to basketHOGAN AND HOGAN BY CHARLES A. MCALPINE 1914 ANOTHER MR. DOOLEY TYPE BOOK VG. If you are an enthusiast or collector of the famous Mr. Dooley books (social commentary in an Irish Dialect, with wit and irony) you will probably want to add this book to your collection. Please find: Hogan and Hogan A Book of Religious Humor by Charles A. McAlpine. It is written and presented in an even heavier Irish brogue than the Dooley books. I am uncertain if it was intended as a parody or a complement of them or not. This small hard cover book (5 ¾ x 8 ¼ inches, 205 pages) was published by the Dubois Press of Rochester New York dated 1914 (with no mention of edition). The book is bound in Kelly green similar to the Dooley books with a paste down image on the cover and gilt titles also on the spine. Condition: This book is in very good condition (amazingly so I would say, and it will stand out on the bookshelf with your Dooley books). The hard covers show a bit of bumping to the corners and spine tips but are generally clean with bright gilt and quite attractive. There is a small, raised section on the paste-down image nothing staggering. Inside a former owner has left her lightly penciled name on the front endpaper and another former owner has inked his name on the top edge of the pages. These are the only marks I found in the book and the interior pages are very clean and bright without toning or foxing. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.
