Following the success of The Lord of the Rings seven-volume edition comes a special edition of The Hobbit, complete with a free CD of archive recordings from 1952 of JRR Tolkien reading Bilbo’s encounter with the horrible Gollum.
Presented in a special gift box, this pack also includes a copy of John Howe’s delicious full-colour fold-out map of Wilderland showing Bilbo’s journey there and back again in glorious detail, a booklet by Brian Sibley about the writing of The Hobbit, plus six large postcards featuring Tolkien’s own magnificent paintings of his story.
J.R.R. Tolkien (1892-1973) was a distinguished academic, though he is best known for writing The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings and The Silmarillion, plus other stories and essays. His books have been translated into over 30 languages and have sold many millions of copies world wide.
