Review
'In the post-Cold War world, as in the previous half-century, NATO continues to be at the centre of U.S.-European relations, and remains the globe's most important alliance. This work, authored by many of the most distinguished persons working the field, and sharpened by the most important conference yet to be held to evaluate the increasingly tense relationships, must be at the centre of future discussions, studies, and policymaking on the subject.' - Walter LáFeber, Cornell University
Clearly towers above most...what has emerged is an important work of synthesis and original scholarship that encourages reflection...' - International Affairs
