Item description from seller

Two smart illustrated volumes within the scarce History of Microscopy series, both celebrating developments within the field of microscopy. The second edition of A History of Microtechnique and the first edition of 18th-Century Microscopes: A Synopsis, both volumes within James and Suzanne McCormick's attractive History of Microcopy series, both published in 1987. In the publisher's original green cloth. A pathologist fascinated with microscopes across his life, James B. McCormick was inspired to create his own replica collection of antique microscopes. This scarce library series was designed to accompany the collection, and included facsimiles of foundational texts as well as McCormick's own history and that of his friend Brian Bracegirdle. - A History of Microtechnique: The Evolution of Microtome and the Development of Tissue Preparation, written by Brian Bracegirdle. Second edition. Contains all forty-nine monochrome plates, all thirty-two colour plates, and numerous in-text illustrations. Collated complete (1987, first published 1978). - 18th-Century Microscopes: A Synopsis of History and Workbook, written by J.B. McCormick. The first edition. Contains all eight colour plates and numerous in-text illustrations. Collated complete (1987). In the publisher's original green cloth. Externally, smart, with minimal edgewear. Small faint marks to McCormick, with small knocks to head and tail of the spine, and to the extremities. A very small puncture close to front joint of Bracegirdle. End papers are bright and mostly clean with faint offsetting marks to McCormick pastedown edges and hinges. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed.…
