First edition. A very good original half calf binding. 8vo. 9.5" x 6.0" x 1.5". [16pp.]/ pp.504 , with engraved frontis and title-page, plus a further 18 illustrations Engraving of Freston Tower absent. Polished brown leather spine and corners over marbled boards in very good condition. Spine with 5 raised bands, gilt titles and publication date. Armorial ink stamp to verso of the front board: "A. Steward". Note to front endpaper: "Alfred Shalders ( Cornhill Ipswich. Bought this book at the auction of Mrs. Steward (deceased) No. 27 Henly Road Feb 20th, 1874". Light foxing and off-setting to the illustrations, otherwise cleat text on lightly toned paper. A well preserved copy. ** "Shalders Alfred, general draper, silk mercer, mantle maker & millinery warehouse, 9 Cornhill" - See Ipswich Commercial Traders 1865.
