Small folio, Meagher Gobragh frontispiece, 216 p. Five colour plates, 16 full page illustrations including the green printed plate of the Green Flag Irish Brigade, 17 illustrations in the text, folding map, map. Modern black quarter leatherette, marbled boards, gilt, off white endpapers. Minor tanning of a few page otherwise a VG+ tight presentable copy with an extract from the Kildare Archaeological Journal reproducing Durer's illustration of Irish Soldiers and Peasantry. Also added at the end are old portraits of Jack Meagher and Michael Maher, a tinted photograph of Castle Ruins, Nenagh and a County Tipperary map. The US edition is vastly more detailed than the 47 page 1887 London edition. First edition thus.
