Item description from seller

A wonderfully illustrated monograph on York Minster, written by Gothic Revival specialists George Ayliffe Poole and J. W. Hugall. First edition. Illustrated with thirty-five engraved plates, with one hand coloured and one duotone. Three plates are folding. Collated complete. A comprehensive guide describes the measurements, materials, features, antiquities and history of the magnificent York Minster. Written by George Ayliffe Poole, an English Anglican cleric and a writer on religion, church architecture and history who strongly advocated the Gothic Revival, and John West Hugall, an English Gothic Revival architect from Yorkshire. Dated from the British Library. In the original paper covered boards. Externally, sound with rubbing and light chipping to the extremities resulting in minor loss. Light sunning to the spine with the odd mark to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot and light age toning to the extremities. Good.
