134 FIRST EDITION. Original bluish green cloth with black lettering front and spine. LACKING the rare dust jacket. The book has very clean covers, fading to spine but less than usual, no previous owner marks or writing on any pages, slight bump corner tips, solid binding, fore-edge and EP foxing but nearly all other pages bright and free of foxing. The book measures 226mm tall x 145mm, and has 309 pages, 25 b/w photos, index. Exploration autobiography. Bruce, a British soldier in India who became a general, was a favorite among the Gurkhas & other Himalayan peoples, & was renowned for his strength & camaraderie. He was with Conway on the traverse of the Alps & the Karakoram expedition, with Mummery & Collie on Nanga Parbat, on numerous private trips (Chilas, Chitral, Garhwal, Nepal, Kulu, Lahoul, etc.), & he was leader of the British 1922 & 1924 Everest expeditions.
