These images of the unchanging Sierra wilderness have been matched with classic writings by the first Sierra pioneers who bravely clambered through the uncharted territories of what are now Yosemite National Park, King's Canyon National Park, Sequoia National Park, and Inyo National Forest. Excerpted from the first editions of the Sierra Club Bulletin, these quotes record the musings and observations of such intrepid explorers as John Muir, Theodore Roosevelt, and Marion Randall Parsons.
