This reference book on hieroglyphic Bibles, where words have been replaced by symbols, is illustrated with numerous b&w illustrations. Hieroglyphic Bibles were meant to visually capture the interest and curiosity of children, leading them to a greater understanding of the text. Following Clouston's text is Frederick A. Laing's modern hieroglyphic Bible printed in color, divided into "Old Testament Stories" and "New Testament Stories." Each part has an illustrated title page, and the miniature leaves (appr. 2 x 3") of the Bible are mounted, with four on each page. Head and tail of spine slightly chipped, with edges slightly darkened. Minor age-toning along paper margin. Ex-library ink stamp on the verso of the title page.
