Synopsis The Hidden Oracle, the first book in Rick Riordan’s The Trials of Apollo series, follows the Greek god Apollo after Zeus punishes him for angering the gods. Apollo is stripped of his divine powers and transformed into an ordinary teenage boy named Lester Papadopoulos. Alone and vulnerable in modern-day New York City, he must find a way to regain his immortality and return to Mount Olympus. Apollo seeks help from Percy Jackson and eventually arrives at Camp Half-Blood, where he learns that several ancient oracles have mysteriously stopped functioning. He discovers that a group of powerful Roman emperors who survived into the modern era is secretly manipulating events and threatening demigods. Apollo must work with the young demigod Meg McCaffrey, who has her own mysterious connection to the enemy. Together, they face monsters, magical dangers, and the consequences of Apollo's own long history of arrogance and questionable decisions. Apollo's transformation forces him to experience human weaknesses such as fear, pain, hunger, and uncertainty while gradually developing greater empathy for mortals. The novel combines Greek and Roman mythology, humor, adventure, monsters, and familiar characters from the Percy Jackson universe. The Hidden Oracle sets the stage for Apollo's quest to restore the ancient oracles, defeat the emperors, and ultimately discover what it truly means to be a hero.…
