possibly the first printing as(1886) is stamped on spine along with a hand written marking in white perhaps an i.d. no. for a private library as there is no evidence that the book was ex librus of a public library , there is residual tape on title page in margin and preface page two short lengths on each page that probably was for edge tears on those two pages otherwise the book is clean free of any markings , names, etc . typical page browning with a red and blue swirled rubbed marbling in half leather binding withbright marbled end pages top edge gilted leather shows wear down folds, corners and spine very good copy attractive on ant shelf (see images).

Rare Reads formerly operated a storefront in The Lakewood Antiques Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia but reverted to a strictly online operation when the Gallery closed. In 2006, Rare Reads published "The Heeey Baby Days of Beach Music" which received a bronze medal from The Independent Publishers Association. Long sold out, copies of the 13 pound tribute to the musicians who created the unique R&B genre are occasionally available on ABE. The book was a collaborative effort of Rare Reads and many others including the musicians that created the sound Southerns term "Beach Music." Rare Reads is considering future publications in addition to expanding its online enterprise.
