Cloth, 8vo, 28 cm, 527 pp, ills. An excellent catalogue, covering 222 French bindings, 157 Italian, 14 Spanish, and 30 others. Each binding is illustrated and described (generally including structure as well as decoration), and the catalogue entries also provide details of provenance, references to earlier mentions of the binding in print, and to relevant more general accounts, identifications of bindings on which the same tool has been used, other bindings that might usefully be compared, and sometimes miscellaneous notes. From a review by Anthony Hobson: "Mirjam Foot has now completed the work in fine style. Her eye is as sharp as ever in recognizing tools and her mastery of the very extensive literature is highly impressive. " As New.
