1980. viii, 195pp. "This book is a study of the Biblical under- standing of health and healing, and begins with a consideration of what the Old and New Testaments mean by health, though the major part of the book is concerned with healing in the New Testament. First of all, various aspects of the healing activity of Jesus are examined, and his healing of the epileptic boy and the bent woman considered in detail. Then the healing activity of the apostolic Church is considered, followed by a detailed study of the identity and significance of Paul's thorn in the flesh, and of James' instructions to the Church about the healing of the sick. The final section discusses the healing commission which Jesus gave to his disciples and whether it is still valid today. The book ends with a consideration of the practice of the ministry of healing of the Church today in the light of the teaching of the New Testament and the modern medical situation. The book is noteworthy for its combination of medical and theological insights into the healing ministry of the Church." Minor shelf wear to unclipped dust jacket. Both book and jacket are otherwise in excellent condition. All contents are tight and clean. There are no inscriptions.…
