First Edition. George W. Gage dustjacket art. First mystery novel written by an African American and Hubin listed novel of Hollywood. "In the midst of the gay philandering by movie men and their mannequins comes the grisly hand of sinister crime and the weirdest of all phantoms. " Very scarce title to be found in original dustjacket. Near Fine with mild cocking, in Very Good plus dustjacket with small ink name and date near front spine edge, shallow chipping to spine ends, light staining to top spine end and mid spine, and general shelf wear. An attractive copy of this important landmark novel with nearly unattainable dustjacket.
