4to (9 3/4" x 13"), stapled card covers, [54]pp. La Monnaie notice laid in, notes that William Wagner will fill in for Jon Mensinger on account of the latter's illness. Morris's troupe premiered "The Hard Nut" at La Monnaie on January 12, 1991. Our program dates from this earliest period, the notice may well be from the first performance as Mensinger's AIDs-related illnesses prevented him from going further than the rehearsal stages. From the library of Norman Frisch, dramaturge and friend of Morris's. Programs contains: an essay/introduction by Alastair Macaulay (French, Dutch, English) as well as the usual rundown of costumes, players, story, etc. Full-page b/w photo of Tchaikovsky; colored endpages by Charles Burns.
