Hard Cover. Condition: Good. No Jacket. Harrison Cady (illustrator). First Edition. Children's fantasy verse, in which a race of insect-winged miniature people sleeping in a hollow oak since the American Revolution are awakened, joining forces with small animals & insects; adventures ensue, including an automibile race, visit to a zoo, Christmas celebration. One of the Happychaps is a stereotyped caricature of an African-American; other microaggressions against the Irish, Japanese, & no doubt others can be found - inclusion or insensitivity? An early work for both involved. Hardcover, as pictured. Book shows some wear, pleasantly alliterative ink name in several places, with place & date in one instance; minor smudges, pages 118 & 119 badly tanned from old newspaper clippings, since discarded. [4], 135 pages, mostly with Cady's fine drawings. Size: Large Octavo. Seller Inventory # w0540
