Item description from seller

The first edition of Handmade in Melbourne was published in 2006 to great success and acclaim from the artisan world and the general community. For this, the second edition of Handmade, we decided to not only increase the inclusions, but also change the concept. It's a Good Food Guide for the handmade world, and it provides a wonderful insight into Melbourne's extended creative community and the hours spent and tears shed and the struggles faced trying to get one's craft noticed and supported. Artisans are listed from A to Z so they are easy to find. Crafts range from boutique chocolate making, ceramics and furniture making to knitting, textile printing and millinery, and everything in between. Features focus on Melbourne's uniquely creative and crafty suburbs. A dedicated stockists section inspires readers to seek out the artisans or maybe find some source of materials for their own creations. The book is a very honest account of Melbourne's finest craft makers, penned from their own hand, about why they first entered the handmade world, what inspires their creations, and the process they go through to produce the quality products they are after. While the 2006 edition saw the beginnings of a surge in the craft industry as a whole, this edition sees the boom well set in, and is seeing the rise of another trend, the use of recycled, recyclable, biodegradable, and eco-friendly materials for the sake of sustainability. Handmade in Melbourne continues to champion Melbourne's role as an innovative and creative hub, and some of the city's most talented people. These are USED books.
