(1962). First Edition, large 8vo, xxi, 270pp, index, plus one hundred fifty two pages of plates, usually two to a page. VG in G, lightly crinkled and soiled dj with a dime-sized area where a sticker had been removed. From the dj: "Dr. Antal here applies his method of establishing the close relationship between the political and social history and the arts and letters of the period. Thus the book goes far beyond the limits of art historical appreciation. It gives a panoramic picture of the first half of the eighteenth century in England with all its social, literary and artistic connotations." A heavy volume; will require the shipping charges for two books.
