Sir Walter Raleigh's renowned unfinished world history, beginning with the Creation and ending at the time of Roman ascendancy, written while he was imprisoned in the Tower of London. Folio, bound in two volumes: [2], [80], 492, 491-651 pp. + 776, [60] pp. with 8 double-page copper-engraved maps and plans, engraved by William Hole, and the copper-engraved pictorial title page engraved by Ren. Elstrack. In modern full tan calf bindings tooled in period style, with brown morocco spine labels and gilt-stamped titles and borders. Lacking the frontispiece, printed title page, and colophon. Some very light, marginal dampstaining, with marginal loss and a paper repair to the final leaf; otherwise very good. Pforzheimer 820; STC 20637.
