Rawlinson like his father Thomas, a manuscript of whose is referred to in this book, was a considerable antiquary and left his large and significant library to the Bodleian. He also left assets to endow an academic "chair" still known as the Rawlinson Professor of Anglo Saxon. Two parts bound together. Preface is dated 171 7/6. Ownership signature dated 1789.
