The 1st Battalion Queen's Westminster Rifles fought extensively in World War I, participating in major campaigns like the Somme, Arras, and Third Ypres. The battalion was involved in battles such as Gommecourt, Cambrai, Canal du Nord, and the final advance to Victory. It suffered 1,219 casualties and was awarded 24 battle honours.
