Cranbrook: Printed for and Sold By S. Reader, 1814, First Edition. Quarter leather binding by Bumpus with marbled boards, gilt titles to the spine, worn. Illustrated with map and 8 sepia aquatint plates after drawings by the author. History of the Weald with fine engraved illustrations including the well-known view of the High Street at Cranbrook. Gently foxed to the plates with offsetting to the pages opposite. lvi, 277pp plus 5pp index and 1pp advert. Approximately 9 inches tall. Provenance: bookplate for 'Unett' to the front paste down. Condition Report Externally Spine good condition gilt titles to the spien, five raised bands, worn to the top of the spine with loss of colour. Joints good condition - gently worn. Corners good condition. Boards good condition quarter leather with marbled boards, a few marks to the leather. Page edges good condition top edge gilt. others tanned and foxed, untrimmed. See above and photos. Internally Hinges good condition intact and secure. Paste downs good condition marbled, bookplate for Unett to the front. End papers good condition marbled, then tanned and foxed. Title good condition tanned and foxed. Pages good condition tissue guarded frontispiece Cranbrook , eight engravings and a map, pages edges are untrimmed, tanned and foxed throughout. Binding good condition. See photos.
