Michael Whitehouse lives in Worcestershire and works in Birmingham. The son of railway photographer and author Patrick Whitehouse, he has been actively involved with the Birmingham Railway Museum. Ian Hogarth lives in Solihull and is also active at the Birmingham Railway Museum. This is their second joint venture for Ian Allan Publishing and follows on from the successful Shakespeare Express: The Heyday of the Birmingham-Stratford Line (0711026726).
