A very nice example of this early twenty-fourth impression of the true first edition, with number-string sequence 30 29 28 27 26 25 24 at the bottom of the printer's page. Only "Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets" is listed as 'also available', indicating a publication date of 1998. ***A near fine copy in pictorial colour illustrated boards. The boards are perfectly clean and unmarked. Head of spine just slightly creased. Corners sharp - just a very small crease to the top corner of the front board. There is a very slight reading lean to the binding. Spine tight. Page block edges quite clean - some foxing to the top edge, and tanned as usual. Internally also near fine with no inscriptions, marks or annotations. No internal foxing - pages clean. The paper stock is tanned as is often found with this book (cheap paper stock used). No creases or tears. No straining to the internal binding. The colours of the book are extremely bright and unfaded (please see scans). ***In a near fine colour illustrated dustwrapper, which has not been price-clipped, retaining the original publisher's printed price of £10.99 on the front flap. The dustwrapper has very few noticeable faults. No significant creases, chips or tears - just some light creasing at the head of the spine, and slight rubbing to the top corner tips. The colours to the spine of the dustwrapper are fresh - only slightly faded, much less than is usually found for this title - there is often quite a lot of fading of the bright red, purple and yellow colours. ***223 pages. 206mm x 136mm. ***An early twenty-fourth impression of the true first edition of "Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone", in its original dustwrapper, in very nice near fine condition. Being such a popular children's book, copies in such near fine condition (with hardly any fading to the dustwrapper) are very hard to find now. This is a very nice copy of quite an early impression from 1998. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate - please contact us for postal rates for heavier books and sets etc.…
