4to (21.2 x 27.5 cms); 256 pages; illustrated with 286 "specially prepared photographic process illustrations"; hardback: beautifully bound in a recent black half-leather (morocco) binding, with marbled paper-covered boards; outwardly in very fine condition; contents slightly creased (knocked) at top corner, page edges browned, and first (blank) page also browned, but otherwise also very good; on the last original page there is a newspaper cutting pasted in, on the Gosport railway station, and there are two loose newspaper cuttings (date-stamped 1954) on Osborne House. Originally published in parts, this is a photographically illustrated guide to the towns and major villages of Hampshire and the Isle of Wight. Signature on the title-page of the Rev.L. Lidbetter, of St. Paul's Vicarage, Southampton, contemporary with the original book. A really lovely copy, with no blemishes to the covers, which would look superb on any bookshelf.
