126 Pages. The half title page is beginning to loosen away from the glued binding but for the time being it is holding well. Interior text pages are near flawless. Historical novel that includes black and white photo illustrations before some of the chapter headings. In 1824, Gustoferson Stevens runs away from home to follow a mule train down the Santa Fe Trail. Here is the story of his friendship with the Comanches, his survival in a dust storm, and the many other adventures that earn him the name Gutsy. The author has been fascinated with the American Southwest since she first found Indian arrowheads in the plowed fields around her home in the 1930s and this novel reflects her thoughts and research and fantasies about life in a vanishing era.
