In an 1814 battle the Gurkhas demonstrated their mettle to the British Army. These 291 pages take up the story from there. Read more about : Kut, Pun Hill, Vital Point, Lance-Naik Ranbahadur Gharti, Mualpi Spur, Water Redoubt, Lieutenant-Colonel Powell, Gothic Line, Lal sing thapa,and Alpe di Poti. B/W photographs accompany text. Cond : Boards are green with black lettering. En-papers are a darker green and are made up of maps that extend from Nilt to Calcutta. D.J. is white with black (and green) lettering. Uniformed Gurkha soldier on cover. D.J. is price clipped and now protected in mylar. Volume is tight, bright, square and clean. No names nor marks. Neither creases nor tears. Collectible military reference ! Quote (p. 112) : " This bluff, some 500 yards from the trenches rose to a height of three hundred feet and marked the Turkish right flank. The Allied offensive had been brought to a halt by this formidable cliff which had been converted into a powerful bastion and was held by Turkish machine-gunners. Brave attempts by ._._._. ."
