Stated First Edition of Mickey Spillane's classic second novel, 'a major opus of hard-boiled literature'. It features private investigator Mike Hammer. It was the basis for the 1957 film noir mystery film of the same title. You can see the covers of the book in the photographs provided. They are very clean, and the burgundy design and lettering is still quite bright. There isn't much wear on the covers, just some of the color fading which you can see particularly on the spine. The corners, the edges, and the spine ends are in very good condition. This book is very solidly bound. The pages are tight. There aren't any cracks or spaces. The front inside cover and first front end paper have some spotting. The rear inside cover and rear end paper have almost none. There is some dust soiling on the top and middle page edges. You will see (if you look carefully) occasional instances where the dust soiling has just managed to reach on to the actual page. As you might imagine, the effect is extremely minor (I've provided a photograph, the last one, which has a little more of this than most of the others). There are two other pages (162 and 163) that each have a half-dozen very small similarly light colored stains unrelated to the edge soiling. Even so, I think it is accurate to say that the pages are exceptionally clean. The fourth photo will give you a good idea how the typical page looks. The condition of the pages is excellent. I saw only a few very thin light creases. I saw one crease from a corner being turned down. No one has written their name or anything else anywhere in this book. There are no markings and there are no attachments. I saw only two unsigned (like mine) copies of this first edition that sold in auction. Unlike mine, both had dust jackets. One sold for $840.00. The other with a poor jacket (tears, small chips, and tape reinforcement on the inside) sold for $777.00. 'The story starts with Mike Hammer meeting a red-headed prostitute in a diner. She is hassled by a man she appears to know and fear but Mike deals with him swiftly. Despite little conversation, he gives her some money to get a real job and leaves. The next day she is found dead, the victim of an apparent hit-and-run accident. Mike does not believe this and proceeds to hunt down her murderers. In the process he uncovers a massive and powerful prostitution ring in New York.'.

To exercise the right to cancel, you must inform us, Rareeclectic, P.O. 155, 10576, pound ridge, New York, U.S.A., 1 347-675-2712, of your decision to cancel this contract by a clear statement (e.g. a letter sent by post, fax or e-mail). You may use the attached model cancellation form, but it is not obligatory. You can also electronically fill in and submit a clear statement on our website, under "My Purchases" in "My Account". If you use this option, we will communicate to you an acknowledgement of receipt of such a cancellation on a durable medium (e.g. by e-mail) without delay.

Effects of cancellation
